DEAB – the development policy association in Baden-Württemberg

DEAB was founded in 1975 and today has 180 members – development policy organizations, local initiatives, fairtrade shops and local, topic- or country-related networks. Overall, DEAB represents over 400 groups and organizations.

DEAB provides information, advice, networking opportunities, offers further training and represents the concerns of its members in politics and society. In addition, DEAB serves as a point of contact for questions, concerns and topics in the field of One World and development policy. Our employees and our promoters are available throughout the state of Baden-Württemberg for this purpose.

We arrange contact to speakers and facilitators, create and distribute publications and lend or arrange educational materials and exhibitions.
“We work in Baden-Württemberg to ensure that as many people as possible are guided by a vision of global justice and live, work and make politics in such a way that people in all parts of the world have a dignified life,” says the preamble to the statutes of the DEAB.

The main topics are...

  • Federal state politics,
  • Fair trade as an instrument of development cooperation and development education,
  • Global learning / Education for sustainable development (ESD)
  • Opening up to and encouraging participation by migrants
  • Food, climate, raw materials and resource justice
  • Decoloniality
